Recognizing that the future health and welfare of our township, state
and country rely on controlling growth and the loss of agricultural
and natural habitat lands, we endorse the following actions:
Items in the Michigan Land Use
Leadership Council Final Report Chapter 5 Page 55
- Stopping assessment of agricultural land based on
development/potential development value;
- Reducing taxes on agricultural land to promote continued
agricultural usage;
- Stopping the escalation of taxable value when agricultural
land is sold or transferred and is maintained in
agricultural production;
Township Specific Items
- Passage by the township of zoning restrictions on
development of sensitive natural areas and wetlands;
- Passage of a comprehensive
Planned Unit Development Ordinance(PUD) which restricts urban sprawl and
encourages preservation of open spaces.
